A steel that is very suitable on its own, and which hardens easily, but which is widely used in pattern welding/damask steel and lamination of knife blades due to its nickel content, which makes it appear like the light lines in damask.
It is often combined with 1095, 1080 or 1075 steel, but 15n20 is a knife steel that is very suitable for use alone too!
Damascus steel: The nickel content makes the steel resistant to acid and appear bright/shiny, while for example 1095 becomes dark.
