The plates have a smooth and a suede surface. This means that one side has a suede fabric glued on which allows you to get a stylish effect on your next kydex sheath. You choose whether you want to have the suede side out or in on your final sheath.
There are two thicknesses that are common in Kydex for knife sheaths, this is the stronger type. A plate lasts for several knives and can be heated and reshaped almost an infinite number of times.
Kydex is a durable and solid sheath material that also has other uses. Kydex is a thermoplastic that can be molded over and over again. Heat the KYDEX for a couple of minutes at 150-200 degrees and press between foam boards or similar to give a tight shape, can also be shaped manually with gloves. Then cut away what is not needed and sand down the edges. The skates can be glued, enamelled, welded, sewn/weaved and polished to a beautiful and shiny edge if desired!
