This is what you want when you want top-notch tools. Here you have pure quality from Carter and Son Toolworks!
From the moment you see them, to the moment you pick up the tool and right up until you put it down after a long session at the lathe, it oozes quality, they are made with love by the family business who have an incredible passion for the tools they produce, and it shows. Good!
The tool consists of a turning bar in M42 High Speed Steel that is easily attached to the ergonomic aluminum shaft using two Allen set screws.
M42 High Speed Steel
With M42 you get the best of everything. The edge lasts a long time - conventional carbon steel variants have no chance of competing, and they last as long as other super steels such as PM and 10V, but are significantly easier to re-sharpen. The other common steel M2 HSS does not last nearly as long. Even M42 still needs to be sharpened once in a while, but if you are afraid that the grinder will have little to do, you should not buy Carter and Sons turning tools.
Allen key 5/32" (3.97mm) for set screws must be ordered separately.
A sharpening manual is included with the purchase of one or more lathes!
Handles are available in different variants with different areas of use, and three handle lengths 20" (50cm) - 16" (40cm) and 12" (30cm). Without an adapter, the handle fits 3/4" tools. Remember to order an adapter for the tools you will use.
Set screws can be purchased separately in different packages.
Adapters for different tools are available in 2 sizes. 1/2" or 5/8" adapter.
The tools are sold separately without a shaft for flexibility, meaning you only need to buy one shaft.
A: 1/2" means the tool needs a 1/2" adapter
A: 5/8" means the tool needs 5/8" adapter
